A caratterizzare San Vito, oltre al suo splendido mare, concorrono anche il Faro, uno dei più importanti della Sicilia, la cui luce notturna supera le venti miglia marine, e il Santuario dedicato a San Vito Martire, patrono del paese, che nasce come piccola cappella di culto spontaneo intorno all’anno 300, ingrandita ed abbellita nel corso dei secoli, cui sono legate antiche leggende.Besides its splendid sea, San Vito is also characterised by the lighthouse, one of the most important in Sicily, whose night-time beam reaches beyond twenty nautical miles, and by the Sanctuary dedicated to San Vito Martire, patron saint of the town, which began as a small chapel of spontaneous worship around the year 300 and was enlarged and embellished over the centuries, and to which ancient legends are linked.

Il territorio di San Vito è ricco di storia ed archeologia, vi sono molte grotte dove sono state rinvenute incisioni e pitture rupestri, così come sepolture, arredi funerari e selci.The territory of San Vito is rich in history and archaeology; there are many caves where rock engravings and paintings have been found, as well as burials, funerary furnishings and flints.
Anche il mare di San Vito ha tante storie da raccontare: i suoi fondali sono ricchissimi di testimonianze degli antichi traffici marittimi, come anfore di svariati periodi, ancore in piombo del IV-V secolo a.C. e persino un relitto arabo-normanno databile intorno all’anno 800.The sea of San Vito also has many stories to tell: its seabeds are extremely rich in evidence of ancient maritime trade, such as amphorae from various periods, lead anchors from the 4th–5th century BC and even an Arab-Norman wreck dating from around the year 800.
