Impossibile, ad esempio, rinunciare ad una visita alla vicina Marsala, l’antica Lilybeum dove, nel Museo Archeologico di Baglio Anselmi, si trova una pregevole Nave Punica, una nave da guerra di circa 35 metri, che costituisce uno dei più interessanti reperti di archeologia navale esistenti, ed è una delle tante testimonianze della “battaglia delle Egadi” tra romani e cartaginesi avvenuta nel 241 a.C.It is impossible, for example, to give up a visit to nearby Marsala, the ancient Lilybeum where, in the Baglio Anselmi Archaeological Museum, there is a fine Punic Ship, a warship about 35 metres long, which is one of the most interesting examples of naval archaeology in existence, and one of the many pieces of evidence of the “Battle of the Egadi Islands” between Romans and Carthaginians in 241 BC.

Tra le chiese ed i monumenti marsalesi, notevoli la chiesa di S. Maria della Grotta con affreschi paleocristiani, quella di S. Giovanni al Boeo, l’ex chiesa del Carmine con opere del Carreca e del Novelli, l’Auditorium di Santa Cecilia di epoca barocca, il Duomo che risale all’epoca normanna, dove si trova il Museo degli Arazzi; pieni di fascino ed interesse architettonico anche i bastioni normanni della villa comunale ed il Castello, così come l’arco cinquecentesco di Porta Garibaldi, il Palazzo municipale del XVI secolo, i Bagni termali del III-IV secolo d.C.Among the churches and monuments of Marsala, notable are the church of S. Maria della Grotta with early Christian frescoes, that of S. Giovanni al Boeo, the former church of the Carmine with works by Carreca and Novelli, the Auditorium of Santa Cecilia of the Baroque period, and the Cathedral dating from the Norman era, which houses the Museum of Tapestries; also full of charm and architectural interest are the Norman bastions of the public gardens and the Castle, as well as the 16th-century arch of Porta Garibaldi, the 16th-century town hall and the thermal baths of the 3rd–4th century AD.
